Stand when your hand is 12-16 when the dealer has 2-6.

Hit when your hand is 12-16 when the dealer has 7-Ace.

Double 11 versus the dealer's 2-10.

The dealer deals two cards to each player, one at a time. He then asks each player, in rotation and beginning with eldest hand (to his left), whether he wants to 'stand' or choose another card. In the latter case, the dealer gives him the top card from the pack.
The location is loosely based on the Cecil Hotel, marked by deaths and tragedies.
As for the Hotel Cortez, it takes inspiration from another real life horror story, that of the Cecil Hotel. This real Los Angeles hotel opened in 1927, a year after March opened the Hotel Cortez, and it has a history of violence, death and mystery.
